Fine Dining in a Little Mexican Town 30/366

It is surprising in a mid sized working town like La Peneta, how many nice restaurants there are.  Last night 9 of us from the camp went to an Italian restaurant beside the town square.  The tables and chairs are on the sidewalk with a few tables inside.  The restaurant (Gigio’s), is owned and run by an Italian gentleman and his French Canadian wife.  The servers are young Mexican women and include some young tourists working far from home.  They’ve run away from winter too.

A gentleman sat outside the door of the restaurant and played beautiful, relaxing guitar music while we ate.  There were lots of Latin numbers, but also some familiar tunes.

The food was delicious, the wine soft on the palate and conversation flowed in around us; English, French, Spanish.  It forms a good memory.
